Victoria Fuller is an accomplished herbalist with a dedication to empowering others to take control of their health and wellness using herbal remedies. She holds a Master’s degree in Therapeutic Herbalism from Maryland University of Integrative Health and is a trusted source of knowledge and support for her clients seeking natural solutions for their health concerns.
A lifelong learner with an inquisitive mind and a desire to foster meaningful connections with others, Victoria has always had an interest in other cultures. Her love of travel, study of foreign languages, and fascination with ethnobotany is a reflection of that interest. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s of Business Administration, and enjoyed a 25-year career in Information Technology, therefore, her path toward becoming an herbalist was not a direct one.
While vacationing in Iceland, her then 7-year-old son developed a sinus infection that left him tired and sluggish; it instantly halted their trip. With her health insurance useless in a foreign country, Victoria had few options to care for her son. At the recommendation of the hotel owner, she visited a nearby apothecary and was given a finely powdered substance labeled Ylliblom (the Icelandic word for Elderberry). She made a tea with it and gave it to her son. To her surprise, the infection had cleared by the next morning. This experience opened her eyes to the power of herbs and their restorative health properties.
Additional experiences with her own health left her frustrated with the lack of personalized care and disappointed by prescriptions that didn’t work. This led her to take a deeper look at ways to incorporate herbal medicine into her lifestyle. Her thirst for knowledge grew with each positive encounter, ultimately inspiring her to pursue a formal education in herbalism. After developing a number of effective formulations for herself, family, and friends, she gained the courage to pursue her practice full-time.
Victoria’s goal as an herbalist is to show clients how to partner with doctors in their own care. She believes that herbs are a powerful ally in the treatment and maintenance of our physical, mental, and emotional health. Through her website, HerbalInitiate.com, she offers herbal products for common conditions, education on how to blend herbal formulations, and a limited number of herbal consultations for those who desire a more personalized experience. She also organizes cultural tours where participants learn from and interact with herbalists in other countries.
